So I’ve shown you my makeup trial and my inspiration pictures—now let’s skip the rambling and jump straight to the good stuff. I do rather like getting my hair did, and I was looking forward to seeing what stylist Jenny of Le Fabulous created for me. First up, she curled my hair using a GHD straightener—and I’ve never, ever had such gorgeous ringlets in my life. (Wish I could do those on myself every single day, really.)

Look 1 was an up-do, slightly off to one side & with a mid-side part:
I thought the look was okay—but it wasn’t sitting perfectly at the front, and showed off too much of my giant round head. We moved on to Look 2, the simple ponytail:
I didn’t mind this; but I knew that Mr. Jaguar wouldn’t love it—let’s be honest, I wear my hair in a ponytail six out of every seven days. It was time to let my locks down and move on to Look 3, the half up/half down:
Now I know we’d done a few other styles already that day, but my worst fears were coming true with this one – the curls already started dropping. The style did soften up my face a little, but it didn’t scream BRIDAL and I didn’t like the view from the back—too casual. Jenny agreed that we hadn’t found the right one yet, and asked if we could try another look. That led us to Look 4, our casual side-part up-do:
Ah, much better! Jenny moved the fringe-part over and it framed my face SO much better than the first few styles, and the tousled bun on the side really evened the whole look out.
I envision the bun being a lot fuller on the wedding day, since we’ll be putting the fresh, tousled curls straight up into it, but I’m so glad to have my whole ‘look’ sorted now. I think the hair and makeup go well together, what do you think?
I still wish my face wasn’t quite so round but eh, you’ve gotta work with what you’ve got! One last Hipstamatic print for good measure:
… and there you have it! Hair & makeup for the wedding, sorted.
I had warned Mr. Jaguar that I was being done up that day, and he really wanted to see the look I chose—luckily both the hair and face paint stayed on until he got home from work (and well into the night, I didn’t want to take the pins out!) and best of all? He approves! Hair low and loose, for the win.
Was your overall look for the wedding what you expected it would be?
