I know it’s a tad strange that I’m going backwards right now. You’ve already seen my finished and completed wedding day look (see above). So why the heck would I go backwards to show you my hair trial? Well, most of the photos I’ve seen from our wedding day doesn’t do my hair justice at all. J’adore my hair stylist, Kacee Geoffroy, but you can’t see her work. Even though my trial was a mere couple days from our wedding day, I took copious amounts of pictures to make sure I liked how it looked on all sides.
I was totally the worst client ever too. Poor Kacee. I told her I wanted something that was tight and structured, yet loose and flowy with movement. A modern yet class side curl something. But we were getting married on a cliff so it needed to withstand the wind. And I like the old Hollywood wave bangs, but I wanted to look glamorous and modern. Yeah, do you see the problem? I have no idea how she was able to translate that mumbo jumbo into anything. Yet, she did! Isn’t it pretty?
And then we added my DIY flower and birdcage (more to come on this later).
Secret to the birdcage placement: Kacee taught me the secret to putting on the birdcage. You place the FRONT first and pin it down around your face the way you want it. Then you pull it back and pin the back.
After I left Kacee’s place, I went home to show off my hair to the familia. Almost 12 hours later, I retired to my bedroom to check out how the do had held up. It looked perfect from the front. The back looked pretty good, too. But the menace in me was curious how wild I could get and still have a wedding ‘do. I proceeded to turn my head upside down and shake-shake-shake my head. This is what happened.
I thought it looked pretty darn good still. The only change we ended up making was lowering the side curls so you could see a tad more of it on the side.
What lengths did you go to to make sure your hairstyle would last the entire wedding day?
