Prettify Me! The Trial

About five months ago, I talked about my inspiration for my hair and makeup for the big day, and I’ve finally been able to try it out! However, before I go into it, here’s a small piece of advice for all brides from Miss Goose: No matter what, ALWAYS GET A CONTRACT!

I’m a certified wedding planner, I know this! I have been diligent about getting extremely detailed contracts from all my vendors. Except my original hairstylist.

She was recommended by one of our other vendors. I did meet with her and discuss what I was looking for, but we never signed anything. I had a funny feeling, but I didn’t push too much. Then, back in June, I called to schedule a time to do a trial, and I found out that she is going to be on vacation during our wedding. So, about two months out, and I hadn’t booked anyone. I was able to stay calm, but I was a bit nervous.

Unlike most women, I don’t have a normal stylist. I used to, but then she left the salon, and I wasn’t happy with her replacement. I looked around for someone but still haven’t found anyone I’m completely happy with. It was also important to me to get someone who would provide mobile services, since I would rather not leave my hotel on the morning of. So, I was on the hunt.

I started with the same place I found our florist—Weddingful. Thanks to the availability calendar on each vendor’s page, I was able to get some idea of who may be available that day (not that everyone updates it). I contacted a few people, and the first two I heard back from were unfortunately unavailable for the time frame we needed. The third company was still available—Bright Eyes Makeup by Kayleigh.

I checked her out online and liked what I saw in her portfolio, so I contacted her for more information. We started talking back and forth, and I was impressed with how quickly Kayleigh got back to me on everything. It also turned out that we had gone to the same college (different years in different programs, obviously!). I was impressed by what I had seen so far and by her professionalism, so I decided to pay the deposit and book her services and a trial.

Kayleigh, and her hairstylist, Jennifer (Pin’d Up Hair Design) came up to my theatre after I was done with work one day to do the trial in one of our dressing rooms. I was at ease with both of them right away, and ready to start my trial!

If you recall from my inspiration post, my idea for my hair and makeup looked like this:

After showing them the photos from my Pinterest board and answering a few questions, they got to work. Once they were through, I was very happy with the final product:

I was so happy they were able to interpret what I meant between the photos and everything I said to create a look that I didn’t want to take off.

I can’t wait to see the hair and makeup with everything else on the day of.

Was anyone else rushing around to find a stylist? Were you happy with your trial?
